Valkana begins with the landscape. Stone, shade, water, wind and local culture shape how each experience is designed. Rather than importing a conventional festival template, the production adapts to the place and keeps the audience deliberately small.
The aim is not to recreate an imagined ancient world. It is to create a contemporary Mediterranean gathering with a strong sense of restraint, craft and belonging.
Temporary by design.
Environmental claims should be measurable, not mythical. Valkana therefore describes its approach as a set of practical commitments rather than a promise of “zero impact.”
Favor temporary, reversible installations where feasible and minimize excavation, permanent structures and unnecessary materials.
Work with regional suppliers, makers, cooks and specialists wherever the project and permits allow.
Design the sound plan around the site, neighboring communities and applicable acoustic limits—not around maximum volume.
The architecture is a frame.
Dry-stone references, linen, timber, ceramics and candlelight form the visual language. Where heritage or protected landscapes are involved, final interventions remain subject to landowner approval, technical review and local conservation requirements.
That constraint is part of the design, not an inconvenience.
